LOGANN SHORTER

MA TESOL Student

GET TO KNOW ME!

IMG_2846.heic

Hiya! I am Logann Shorter and welcome to my MA TESOL e-portfolio. I am a current first-year MA TESOL student at the University of Alabama, and I hold a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Psychology. I am a current Graduate Teaching Assistant where I co-teach the EN 102 course; an English composition writing class for multilingual L2 English Learners.

I knew that I wanted to go into English Language L2 teaching since I was in high school and was determined to reach my goal of becoming an English teacher in South Korea. As preparation, I have been studying Korean as a foreign language for over 5 years and have been able to dedicate myself to learning the language and culture more consistently since attending the University of Alabama. As a current intermediate KFL student, I hope to use my language and cultural knowledge as the backbone of my social experiences in Korea, as well as my education in SLA pedagogical methods.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

"Language is the multifaceted representation of the human experience, a phenomenon so grand that it cannot possibly be bound by one or two approaches created during the short timelines we call our lives." - Logann Shorter

Demo Lesson Plan

This lesson plan was designed for a 50-minute course whose main goal is to improve the L2 (English) in the realm of language comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and pronunciation through task-based and CLIL-based reading activities.
